Rt. Hon. James Abiodun Faleke, Representing Ikeja Federal Constituency

Rep. James Faleke (Ikeja Federal Constituency) has advised Nigerians to imbibe values of patriotism and selfless service, as the nation marked her 61st independence anniversary.

Faleke gave the advice in a congratulatory message to Nigerians in commemoration of Nigeria’s 61st independence anniversary on Friday in Lagos.

He urged Nigerians home and in diaspora to rededicate their commitment to the pride and service of the nation, as exemplified by the founding fathers and patriots.

He said there was need to rekindle the flame that ignited the determination of the founding fathers to fight for and obtain independence, coupled with the pride they had in serving the country.

He said: “There is no better time than now to reawaken the waning glory of the nation.

Referencing the efforts of Nigeria’s first Prime Minister, Alhaji Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, Faleke admonished the people to dedicate their lives and service to the country, adding that Nigerians should align with those set goals.

He enjoined Nigerians, irrespective of party affiliation, religious belief or ethnic leaning to join hands with the government of the day to salvage the nation.

He also called on the people to support ongoing efforts by President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration to rebuild the nation’s foundation, saying such efforts could not be left to the government alone.

He, however, expressed optimism that the Buhari administration would succeed in its quest to reduce the rate of poverty and fight corruption.

“This administration will change the economic fortunes and stem the tide of insecurity in the country, especially in North and South East Nigeria, therefore, all hands must be on deck.

“On this occasion, l commend Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, for his sterling leadership qualities and performance which has continued to make the state a reference point for other states in terms of good governance.

Also, l congratulate the good people of Ikeja constituency , all Nigerians home and abroad, on this 61st anniversary of Nigeria’s Independence, ” he said.
