The Department of State Services, DSS, has reacted to the alleged arrest of Channels Tv presenters by the agency, describing the news as false.
According to reports, the alleged arrest happened following the interview Channels Television had with Governor Samuel Ortom and others earlier this week.
Reacting, the mouthpiece of the agency, Dr. Peter Afunanya said that no Channels TV presenters were arrested as purportedly reported by a section of the media on Thursday.
Dr Afunanya disclosed this while reacting to reports that Channels TV anchor men Chamberlain Uso and kayode okikiolu had been arrested and detained by the agency
Contrary to the news on social media that the Sunrise Daily’s anchors have been arrested, this is just to clarify that no such arrest was made.
But the entire anchors were invited for a meeting by the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) in Abuja and they have since returned from that meeting.
Similarly, the Department of State Services (DSS) on Thursday clarified that Channels Television’s invited by the secret service in earlier stories on social media are false and misleading.
DSS spokesman, Peter Afunanya, made the clarification via a statement, warning purveyors of such to stop.
“The attention of the DSS has been drawn to news making the rounds in some sections of the media that its operatives earlier today (26th August, 2021) arrested two (2) journalists of Channels Television. This is false and misleading. Fake news peddlers should shun the act,” the statement read.
