As Nigeria 2023 general election draws nearer, active youths in Eti-Osa local government deemed it imperative to organise a youth summit to sensitise young persons in the axis on the likely actions to be taken before and during election that will enable all candidates of All progressives Congress to triumph at the polls from top to bottom.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had opined that over 40 percent of youths had collected their voters card in which Lagos state youths came second after Kano state. The summit in Eti-Osa felt it is necessary to sensitise young persons on the right actions to be taken on election Day such that the Presidential candidates of APC Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu ditto Mr Government can coast home with victory at the polls.

The Convener of debut Eti-Osa youth summit who doubles as the CEO Hamtajak Group of Companies Ahmed Tajudeen Akanbi said Eti Osa has the highest polling units, hence it is important to leverage on that privilege to deliver the candidates of APC from top to bottom. In his welcome address, he said;

“It is an honor to stand before you today at the Etiosa Youth Summit, an event that brings together the brightest and most promising young minds in our community.

“As we all know, February 25th and March 11th are very important dates in the history of our state, and indeed our nation. These are the days when we will be voting for our leaders, the people who will be responsible for the growth and development of our state and our country. And as we approach these important dates, I am here to urge all of you to vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates, particularly our Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and our Governorship Candidate, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwoolu.

“There is no doubt that the APC has done a lot in this country, and Lagos State, in particular. Our Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has been a key player in the development of our democracy, and has played a significant role in the growth and progress of our state. He has built leaders and helped many people in need. He has also made significant investments in education and infrastructure, which have helped to transform Lagos into the economic hub of West Africa.

“Our Governorship Candidate, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwoolu, has also done a lot to develop Lagos, and has plans to take the state to another level. He has worked tirelessly to improve the lives of Lagosians, and has made significant investments in education, healthcare, and transportation. His vision for Lagos is bold and ambitious, and I have no doubt that he will deliver on his promises if re- elected.

“So I urge all of you, the youth of Etiosa, to vote for our APC candidates come February 25th and March 11th. But it is not enough to just vote for them, we need to support them in every way possible. You need to talk to your friends, neighbors, family, girlfriend, and even your enemies. Convince them to vote for our candidates and tell them about the good things that they have done for Lagos State and our country.

“But let us not forget that violence is not the answer. We need to shun violence during and after the elections. We need to ensure that the elections are peaceful and fair. So let us all come together and vote Asiwaju and Sanwoolu all the way.

“And to the youth of Etiosa, I want you to make a commitment today. I want you to tell me that you will deliver your street for Asiwaju and Sanwoolu, and all other APC candidates.

“I want you to promise me that you will do everything in your power to ensure that our candidates win”. Ahmed said.

The LGA chairman of APC in Eti-Osa LG Aremo Olusegun Oyindasola in his keynote address at the summit said the party belongs to the youth.

“He who has the youth, has the future. You are our today and our tomorrow. I don’t want you to join youths who are into internet fraudster.

“Election is in 8 days. On election day, mobilise your friends to vote it is not a day to play football.

While corroborating the stance of Honourable Oyindamola, the former LGA Chairman in the same Eti-osa Mr Mudeer Shade Kolawole asked if the participants have their PVC ready to vote for APC candidates. He said one thing is to have a PVC another thing is to mobilise others who also have it to use it and vote on election day for APC candidates.

“Do we all have our PVC. It is not enough alone for us to have it, we should mobilise others to use it and vote for Asiwaju because we are the next to be in government ‘Awalokan’.

“He has lifted a lot. When he was a governor, we knew how Lagos was. His blue print is what others follow. We still have a lot of work to do. It is not just our vote that we are after but others votes.

“If you are fighting anyone, settle your dispute with them and canvass them for vote. I urge us to work for Asiwaju, we can get 1 million votes for him”. Kolawole concluded.

During the question and answer segment, Comrade Ridwan Atolagbe asked What is there for the youths in Eti Osa after election? He said

“We have graduates, we have those that have learnt one vocation skills or the other we have traders amongst us. After this vote what is for us ?

In responding to him, the convener said if we deliver Eti-Osa we can use the votes to negotiate with our leader for juicy positions.
