Wildfire has ignited and is currently destroying Ebute Metta plank market and residential houses around the area.
In a viral video by the BBC, the fire which has continued to spread for over one hour has razed down several properties including a church, several pieces of equipment used for plank making and properties owned by residents and workers in the area.
The incident has spurred panic amongst residents who feared that the men of the Fire Service may not be able to access the area which is close to a large deposit of water.
While the cause of the fire remains unknown, some residents were seen trying to salvage their properties.
The incident has caused gridlock around the Third Mainland Bridge as the Lagos State management agency is seen trying to control the gridlock already stretching.
