In a quest to further promote accountability and development, the Lagos Status Governance Builders Independent Group otherwise known as LASGOBIG in collaboration with RAK Foundation has put the gear in motion to further build capacity in the workplace of Lagos State workers through LASGOBIG GOVERNANCE WORKSHOP, a two-day capacity building program scheduled to hold with March 9 – 10th 2022 as the tentative dates. The venue is Raddison Blu GRA Ikeja Lagos.
As an independent body, our mandate is to support the government by bridging the gap between the government and the citizen through strategic engagements that will bring about public trust, synergy, and positive response to policies amongst others.
In the course of the year 2021, LASGOBIG engaged with different Lagos State Ministries/Agencies through the “Governance Performance Evaluation” of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu held on the 25th June 2021 at Raddison blu GRA Ikeja Lagos and “the Eko Youth Eagles Summit” held on the 16th December 2021 at Raddison blu GRA Ikeja Lagos. While the Governance Performance Evaluation was set up for the sole purpose of evaluating the performance of the Governor since he assumed office, the Eko Youth Eagles Summit showcased the youth-focused initiatives implemented by different Ministries and Agencies in the year 2021.
An observation from the analysis of the two events held showed that there is a need for Capacity building in the governmental workplace, and as such LASGOBIG has chosen to further show support with our pool of expertise to fill this gap so as to ensure that effective, engaging and impactful projects are designed with an intentional implementation scope which will have a direct impact while boosting public confidence in government policy. This program also aims to broaden the scope of accountability in Governance and its diverse effects.
The theme for the workshop is tagged “The Methodology: Understanding the technicality in accountability through the pursuit of project and programs delivery or implementation for short- and long-term impact”.
Speaking about the workshop, the founder of RAK Foundation, Mr Mobolaji Ogunlende said ” we have seasoned facilitators who have been strategically selected from different works of life, understanding the elements that are needed to achieve the desired objectives with emphasis on the focus of discussion”.
According to a representative of LASGOBIG, Mr Emmanuel Amuwo, he said the workshop is designed to open up the opportunities of accountability in governance to different ministries and agencies that will participate and will focus on the following;
