OSINBAJO RESTATES NEED FOR COLLABORATION IN HEALTH SECTOR

Published by Borderless Media

The Vice President of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo has restated the need for more collaboration with stakeholders in the health sector, just as he also made a case for the continuous formulation of adequate policies and programmes to reduce medical tourism for effective and efficient healthcare delivery.

Prof. Osinbajo, who stated this during the official commissioning of Duchess International Hospital in Lagos State, noted that the opening of the facility clearly shows that the Country has all that it takes to become the destination of choice for medical tourism from developed countries who are looking to jump long queues for specialised procedures.

Osinbajo, while adding that the Country has the largest number of middle- to low-income communities and individuals in Sub-Saharan Africa who require affordable healthcare, added that the hospital aside from helping the country put an end to medical tourism would also help reduce the migration of medical personnel out of the Country.

In his remark, the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun while describing the hospital as a symbolic act of patriotism by a team of committed Nigerians who believe in the continued development of the Country, added that the hospital would provide a viable alternative destination for healthcare for the people.

Abiodun, who also noted that his Administration would continue to partner with the private sector towards improving the welfare, wellness and wellbeing of the people, said that the Administration would also ensure that it does not stop to initiate policies and programs towards improving and providing efficient and effective healthcare for the people.

The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwoolu while commending the initiative behind the hospital, noted that his administration would continue to give the health sector the attention it desires.
