A group known as Northern Youth Movement as flooded Campaign posters of former governor of Abia State, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu for President on major streets of Bauchi metropolis.
The posters were sighted at places such as the Emir’s Palace round about, Central Market, Awalah, fire service, Jos road, several other roads and houses in the state capital.
reports has it that this development is coming barely few weeks after the Northern youths dragged Orji Uzor Kalu to the Bauchi State High Court in order to compel him to contest the President come 2023. The group also called on residents in the state to support the detribalised Nigerian, who they said would unite and save the country from imminent disintegration.
The group noted that Kalu is the best presidential material in 2023, urging the ruling All Progressives Congress to commence a process of adopting him as the sole candidate of the party because of his managerial skill and experience.
“This may sound odd to Nigerians, especially those nursing the ambition to run for the number one seat in the country. Be that as it may, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu’s acceptability demonstrates the resolve of the youths in the 19 Northern states to support him in succeeding President Muhammadu Buhari,” they said.
Efforts to speak with the Public Relations Officer of the All Progressives Congress, Aliyu Jalla, were not successful but an official of the party who did not want his name mentioned because he’s not authorised to speak, said the party had yet to adopt a presidential candidate.
It added, “We are planning for national convention and the group is right to support the candidate of their choice. We all know Kalu as a result-oriented leader with a proven track record that can sustain and consolidate the gains of democracy recorded by the current administration, hence Kalu is one of the best for the APC in 2023.
“He is a presidential material with experience in the private sector, executive and legislative arm of government. We are totally convinced that what Nigeria needs right now is a courageous and vibrant leader who is capable of managing a complex nation like Nigeria.”
